How to Apply
You may apply by clicking the button at the bottom of the page and filling out the Volunteer Survey. If you have any trouble with the survey try contacting the volunteer coordinator by email firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteer applications will be taken through September 1st. Volunteers will receive their volunteer schedule no later than September 18th. If you notice a scheduling conflict, please notify us as soon possible.
All volunteers who work a eight hour shift get a weekend pass. Watermelon Park Fest volunteers can enjoy the festival before and after working assigned shifts.
Volunteer Deposit (new this year)
This year we are implementing a new policy. Volunteers will be required to pay a deposit equal to the price of one 3 Day General Admission ticket. This deposit will be refunded upon completion of your scheduled volunteer shift. We realize this may be an inconvenience, but this is the best way to insure that volunteers show up for their shift. Your volunteer application will be considered complete upon payment of the deposit fee. A ticket purchase link will be sent to you in an email after submitting this application. After you pay the deposit you will be assigned a volunteer shift based on your application.
You will not be assigned a volunteer shift until we receive your deposit payment.
Please let the Gate staff know when you arrive. There you will receive your entry wristband. Volunteer Check-In is located at the Artist check-in. All volunteers are directed to check in for their volunteer shift 30 minutes prior to their shift beginning. The Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with information/training needed to perform your volunteer duties.
What A Volunteer Needs
Comfortable shoes, warm clothing for cool nights, rain gear insect repellent, sun block/sunscreen lotion, flashlight (if on duty at night), a friendly smile.
Work with one or two other volunteers to help folks enter the festival.
Help make our artists and Megamelon VIPs feel right at home. A Backstage Hospitality Volunteer will make sure that everyone backstage has the proper credentials. You will also help the Hospitality Coordinator by running meals to artists and making sure the hospitality area remains clean and stocked.
Artist Parking Gate
Artist Parking Gate Guard: the artist gate, at the drive-in entrance to backstage, is usually staffed by 2 volunteers each day. Artists and others with backstage access may park and camp in the backstage area.
The Store is open from 11am-10:30pm. Help sell artists and festival merchandise. Retail experience is useful.
Artist/Guest/Vendor check in-
Artist/Guest/Vendor Check-in tent open 8am – 10pm. Usually manned by 2 volunteers, this position requires friendly and detail orientated people. Prior experience is preferred, but not required.
Before and after the festival. Help load in the sound gear, set up tents, tear down tents ect.
After and during the festival. 2 volunteers will drive around in vehicle provided and pick up recycling from campsites and designated spots. A good way to meet folks and do good for the planet. Must be serious and responsible.
